MimoOn, implements LTE protocol on Wintegra processor
The implementation has been optimized across the parameters of memory footprint, performance and power consumption, the company said. The MAC, RLC, PDCP, and RRC components are based on release 8 36.3XX series baseline specifications from 3GPP.
As MimoOn's implementation is written in software, it is easy to modify before or after deployment, the company asserted. The standards for the protocol layers are expected to continue being revied well into 2009, according to MimoOn. The implementation includes scheduler algorithms that select time and frequency slots to maximize capacity and throughput based on traffic loads, channel impairments, and quality-of-service targets.
The protocol stack, along with MimoOn's previously announced LTE PHY is set to be "certified" with partners.
"LTE will enable the next generation of wireless networks to achieve 100-Mbit per second downlink, 50 Mbit per second uplink capability, and has been a major theme at recent shows," commented Thomas Kaiser, CEO of mimoOn, in a statement. He said MimoOn now offers the entire reference chain of LTE PHY and protocol stack software.
