MUNICH, Germany Two entrepreneurs at the University of Bath in Swindon have formed a fabless semiconductor company called Air Semiconductor Inc. to develop a chip for use in mobile phones.
The company has been founded by David Tester, an engineer from Swindon, and Stephen Graham, formerly with Renesas Technology Europe. Graham is vice president with responsibility for marketing Air Semiconductor.
The company has received an undisclosed amount of backing from Pond Ventures Ltd.
Tester had previously worked as a semiconductor designer with Dialog Semiconductor plc (Kirchheim/Teck-Nabern). Tester and Graham have recruited six more engineers according to a University of Bath at Swindon website. The company appears to have plans to seek further investment from the United States.
Air Semiconductor is developing an approach to an "emerging problem," according to Pond Ventures.
