LONDON Nujira Ltd, which has patented and developed efficient power amplifiers for wireless applications, is expanding its operations in the Pacific Rim with a field support office in Japan and a larger sales network in China.
The company, which was set up in 2002, earlier this year demonstrated its high efficiency RF Power Amplifier (PA) operation in collaboration with three simultaneous full-bandwidth W-CDMA carriers.
Nujira (Cambridge, England) says its High Accuracy Tracking (HAT) technology, which dynamically modulates the RF power amplifier (PA) supply voltage to provide a significant improvement in the efficiency of linear amplifiers from a typical figure of around 15 percent to more than 50 percent.
"We are seeing tremendous traction for Nujira's technology amongst the Japanese infrastructure vendors", said Tim Haynes, CEO of Nujira. "Japan is well known for being a receptive market that is quick to adopt new technologies. Japanese network operators are keen to deploy additional wireless broadband capacity, either through 3G and evolved 3G or by using WiMAX. Nujira’s technology can help these operators make significant savings in their network power consumption, through the use of dramatically more efficient RF power amplifiers".
Haynes said the dedicated facility in Japan will be quicker to respond to its growing customer base in the country.
Meanwhile, the expansion of the sales network in China is targeted at the many emerging players in the local wireless infrastructure market who are very focused on fast time-to-market, but also are looking for ways to gain an advantage over the incumbent suppliers in Western markets.
In addition China itself is under increasing international pressure to limit its contribution to global warming.
