LONDON DSP cores IP licensor Ceva Inc. has joined the growing list of companies to port mimoOn's mi!MobilePHY LTE software on to silicon targeting the emerging wireless broadband technology.
mi!MobilePHY is the latest LTE focused protocol stack from mimoOn (Duisburg, Germany) and is certified for user equipment based on the March 2009 version of the 3GPP Standards Release 8.
mimoOn's implementation on the Ceva-XC will support high channel bandwidths, multiple MIMO configurations, FDD/TDD, and high data rates at low power consumption.
The software is written in high level language and is in modular form so it is easy to modify or customize; an important feature as the standards and market requirements for LTE continue to evolve.
Ceva (Herzelia, Israel and San Jose, Calif.) has optimized the XC DSP processor for advanced wireless communications processing in mobile handsets as well as wireless infrastructure applications. A single XC core is capable of handling complete 3.5G and 4G transceiver paths in software.

mimoOn has already struck deals with several processor design companies to port its range of protocol stacks, including Texas Instruments, Wintegra, Cavium and picoChip.
